A flame supervision device (FSD) or flame failure device (FFD) is part of the gas burner system that detects if the flame is extinguished, and if so, cuts off the gas supply automatically.
SIMPLE – NO FSD – NO INSTALLATION – £100 Cancellation Fee
As of May 2010, all cookers with gas burners need by law to be manufactured with FSD, so any new cooker you buy should now be compliant, unless you are buying very old stock or an older display model. The regulations state that all gas cooking devices fitted in multi-dwelling buildings and flats cannot be installed unless fitted with FSD. For more information on the regulations visit gassaferegister.co.uk or speak to your local Gas Safe engineer.

How far should an electrical accessory be located from a gas or electric cooker, hob?
A minimum distance of 100mm (10cm), measured horizontally from an electrical accessory (socket outlet, switch, control unit) to the edge of a free standing cooker or individual hob is considered acceptable for the purposes of avoiding adverse effects from using a cooker or hob. An electrical accessory should not be located immediately above a cooker or hob due to the possibility of people reaching over suffering burns or the flexible cable of connected equipment being damaged

Consume greater than 3KW
What we will do:

Max demand and diversity
Household cooking appliance first 10A of rated current, plus 30% of the remainder of the current, plus 5A if socket outlet is incorporated in control unit.
32A circuit is usually appropriate for household cookers of rating up to 16 kW*
*Example for calculation:
Induction Hob 8kW
Electric Double Oven 8kW
Total Load: 16kW
Total Current: I=P/U=16000W/240V=66.66A
The demand is made up of: the first 10A
+ 30% of remainder: [(66.66A-10A)x30]/100=17A
+ allowance for socket outlet: 5A
TOTAL = 32A – if socket outlet is incorporated in control unit.

IMPORTANT – CHECK the 32Amp or the 45Amp OUTLETS.
This is usually identifiable by a big red isolation switch and needs to be within 2m of the location of your appliance and not directly above or behind the hob area.
If you can not identify the red switch in your kitchen we could not offer a connection service.

IMPORTANT – Check your fuse box (consumer unit) – Fuse size: B32 or B45
This is usually identifiable by the B32 or the B45 mark on the top of the fuse (check orange narrow on picture). Circuit must mark COOKER, HOB or OVEN (check orange arrow on picture).
If you can not identify the B32 or the B45 fuse in the fuse box with the cooker note we could not offer a connection service.
Consume less than 2.99KW
What we will do:
- We will connect you electric oven, electric hob or electric cooker with the requires wire connection to the 13Amp socket.
- Supply: electric cable, plug with 13Amp fuse.
Fuse size must be 13Amp.
This service is not inclusive:
- To change the unswitched cooker outlet plate to 13Amp socket.
- To supply, change and upgrade the fuse or the socket.
- To change or rewire the cable between fuse box and socket.

IMPORTANT – CHECK the 13Amp OUTLETS.
This is, usually, identifiable by a white isolation switch and needs to be within 2m of the location of your appliance and not directly above or behind the hob area.
If you can not identify the white switch in your kitchen we could not offer a connection service.
STEP 2: CHECK THE VENTILLATIONS
Gas Safe regulation also dictate that there must be adequate ventilation in the room where the appliance is to be installed.
Door or Window which opens directly to the outside or Permanent opening is required.

STEP 3: CHECK THE ENVIRONMENT, SPACE
That there is no combustible material behind the hob location. For example, the area directly above the gas appliance must not have any power points, switches, boilers or alarm sensors. Additionally, there must not be any flammable material such as wallpaper, wood, fabric wall coverings, curtains or shelving.
That we have clear access to the area you want your new appliance installed. The appliance will fit into the space with enough space. Check the product specification for the hob you want to buy.

Suitable electrical accessory (socket outlet, switch, control unit) required a minimum distance of 10 cm from the edge of cooker or hob and not directly above.
A minimum distance of 100mm, measured horizontally from an electrical accessory (socket outlet, switch, control unit) to the edge of a free standing cooker or individual hob is considered acceptable for the purposes of avoiding adverse effects from using a cooker or hob. An electrical accessory should not be located immediately above a cooker or hob due to the possibility of people reaching over suffering burns or the flexible cable of connected equipment being damaged. Electrical accessory such as a socket outlet, switch, control unit, consumer unit etc. should be positioned to enable safe operation and to avoid the harmful effects of heat and steam from cooking activities.
